Meet the Team

Welcome back!

Get to know Rebecca Wood in the next of our Meet the Team series.

Name: Rebecca Wood

Role: Associate Solicitor – Head of Criminal Litigation Department

Department: Crime

What is your proudest accomplishment (either personal or professional)?

Representing a client before a High Court Judge. There was a great amount of complex law involved and it was a high-pressured case but a fantastic experience.

I always had an interest in criminal law, but it was not until I completed a Psychology and Criminology degree that I realised law was for me. I went on to study the Graduate Diploma in Law and continued to qualify as a solicitor. I am very proud of the successes, but I will always remember the journey.

What do you like most about your job?

Thinking on my feet, either providing advocacy in the court or at the police station making representations for clients and giving a voice to people.

What do you like least about your job?

A client not receiving the right outcome.

What is the best gift you’ve ever given/received?

Updates from clients months or years after I’ve represented them, just to let me know they are doing well and have turned things around in life for the better.

What does your ideal day look like?

You have to be very flexible and versatile in the crime department and part of the thrill of the job is that you often don’t know what is coming round the corner.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I am a lover of nature, so getting outdoors is my ideal pastime. Spending time with my children and going on adventures.

What is your dream job?

I am happy to say that I couldn’t imagine doing any other job.

What was the most interesting case you have dealt with at work?

We are lucky enough to have variety in the types of cases that we deal with in the crime department, which keeps every day interesting. I find that it is clients who are interesting and finding out more about them to provide the best advocacy, is a great part of the job.

Where is one place you’d love to travel to?

I have been very lucky to travel to many countries across the world. I am very intrigued by the culture in Japan and would love to go there. It’s on my to do list!

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

Always prepare! Nothing can phase you when you know a case inside out.

Always be you, don’t try and be somebody else.

"As a family we found the service provided to us was delivered with ’empathy’ and was in fact ‘outstanding’, we would most certainly recommend Woollcombe Yonge to friends.”
