International Women’s Day 2021

CHOOSE TO CHALLENGE

Monday 8th March is International Women’s Day and this year’s theme is ‘Choose to Challenge’.

Woollcombe Yonge are proud to have so many inspiring, creative and dynamic women in our team, in various positions across the firm. They bring skill and talent to Woollcombe Yonge, and we would like to sing their praises from the rooftops.

Our very own Rebecca Wood, Head of our Criminal Litigation Department, joined an expert panel of speakers with South West Women in Business, to discuss women in the criminal justice system and domestic abuse. This was an open discussion with Alison Hernandez (Police Crime Commissioner), Lyn Goodling (CEO of First Light, a charity supporting women following sexual and domestic abuse), Soo Brizell (Make Amends Restorative Justice), and Alexis Bowater (campaigner and international reporter).

It is incredibly important to continue in conversation about what is happening for our clients, friends, employees and local women. The interview challenges the impact that our criminal justice system has on women, and also celebrates the fantastic work that is continuing in our local communities.

The full interview can be viewed on the SW Women in Business CIC YouTube channel and will be shared on Woollcombe Yonge social media.

We can choose to challenge and call out gender bias and inequality. We choose to seek out and celebrate women’s achievements. Collectively, we can all help create an inclusive world. From challenge comes change, so let’s all choose to challenge.

Today we celebrate women at Woollcombe Yonge and across the world.
