Woollcombe Yonge Solicitors sign the Armed Forces Covenant

At Woollcombe Yonge Solicitors we recognise the value that serving personnel, reservists, veterans and military families bring to our firm and the city of Plymouth. We are proud to pledge our support to the armed forces community by signing the Armed Forces Covenant.

On Tuesday 24th September 2019 Naval Commander, Commodore Coulson of Devonport, on behalf of the Ministry of Defence and Associate Solicitor Rebecca Wood on behalf of Wollcombe Yonge signed the Armed Forces Covenant. The event took place at our office with guests from the armed forces and members of our firm, to reinforce our pledge.

Commodore Coulson spoke at the event with passion about the covenant, he said : “The covenant is important to members of the armed forces because the job demands a lot. In some cases, the ultimate sacrifice.

“A little bit of help for families where necessary is very welcome because there should be no disadvantage through serving. I was present in Parliament when the Armed Forces Covenant was first put in to place and I am exceptionally proud to be part of including a local firm signing their covenant with us.

The signing demonstrates Woollcombe Yonge’s intentions to support the Armed Forces community and pledge to support and seek to upload the principles of our Armed forces Covenant. The full details of the Woollcombe Yonge Armed Forces Covenant can be found at https://www.armedforcescovenant.gov.uk/get-involved/who-has-signed-the-covenant/.

As part of our promise to support the Armed Forces, our Crime Department annually attend HMS Drake and do a presentation to service personnel outlining the law in relation to Court Martials and civilian Criminal Law. On Wednesday 25 September, Solicitor Advocate Michael Green and Rebecca Wood attended HMS Drake once again to present and offer legal advice. We were also joined in the presentation by Caroline Sollis, Head of the Armed Forces Criminal Legal Aid Authority, who provided details in relation to the funding of Court Martial cases.

Woollcombe Yonge will continue to promote the Armed Forces in the future and we are committed to supporting the services community.

If you would like more information please do contact Rebecca Wood at our office on 01752 827943.

"As a family we found the service provided to us was delivered with ’empathy’ and was in fact ‘outstanding’, we would most certainly recommend Woollcombe Yonge to friends.”
