The Role
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Credit Controller & Legal Cashier Assistant to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone at AAT Level 2 (or working towards it) who is looking to develop a career within legal finance.
The role combines responsibility for credit control with day-to-day cashiering support, ensuring compliance with the SRA Accounts Rules at all times.
Key Responsibilities
Credit Control Duties:
- Proactively monitor and manage outstanding client debts
- Chase overdue invoices via telephone, email, and written correspondence
- Maintain accurate records of all debtor communications
- Liaise with fee earners regarding aged debt and agree recovery strategies
- Assist in preparing reports on debtor balances and cash flow
Legal Cashiering Support:
- Assist with daily banking, including client and office account transactions
- Process receipts, payments, and transfers in accordance with SRA Accounts Rules
- Support bank reconciliations
- Assist with posting bills, disbursements, and client account transactions
- Ensure all financial records are accurate and compliant
About You
- AAT Level 2 qualified or currently studying (essential)
- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Confident communicator, both written and verbal
- Organised with the ability to manage multiple tasks
- Proactive and willing to learn
- Basic understanding of accounting principles (legal accounts experience desirable but not essential)
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
