International Women’s Day 2020

Woollcombe Yonge celebrate International Women’s Day 2020

Sunday 8th March 2020 marked International Women’s Day, and we were delighted to be able to attend this year’s International Women’s Day in Plymouth taking place at the Mayflower Grandstand at Plymouth Argyle.

The afternoon was full of presentations from inspirational people involved in local charities and businesses.

We heard from Pregnancy Crisis Care, who offer free confidential and impartial advice to those who are facing any crisis related to pregnancy, along with Plymouth Street Pastors, a team of fully trained volunteers with an aim to keep Plymouth safe at night.

We also heard from Friends and Families of Special Children, a charity founded in 2002 by a small group of parents who identified a huge gap in service provision for children with disabilities and their families in Plymouth and the surrounding area.

We also attended the International Women’s Day networking event, run by Millfields Trust and Social Enterprise Mark CIC. The guest speaker is noted as being one of the most ‘powerful women in Plymouth’, Cindy Willcocks.

Cindy is the founder of Arterne CIC, which is a not for profit organisation working to support individuals, businesses and communities to be the best version of themselves that they can be, promoting a happy, healthy lifestyle.

The presentation was incredibly inspirational and based around L.O.V.E. Leadership. We certainly left this event feeling incredibly empowered and gave us food for thought, both personally and as a business.

The people involved in these organisations are truly inspirational. If you would like more information on those listed above, please feel free to contact us on 01752 660384, or contact the organisations directly.

"As a family we found the service provided to us was delivered with ’empathy’ and was in fact ‘outstanding’, we would most certainly recommend Woollcombe Yonge to friends.”
