Improving Lives Plymouths Free Families Day
On Saturday 19 August we were part of the Improving Lives Plymouth Free Families Day in support of the veterans and family hub. It was an incredible turn out and we are very pleased to support such an incredible charity.
Our stand was very popular with the families offering free goody bags to the first 100 guests, as well as free glitter tattoos to all and not forgetting our fun game ‘name the teddy’. Pictured below are Raegan Leather (from our Wills & Probate Department) and Tam Katibeh (from our Family Department).
Improving Lives Plymouth are a long-established organisation, working within the city of Plymouth and the surrounding area, delivering services and developing new ones to meet the needs of individuals, the community and voluntary organisations. They run information, advice and support services for people with disabilities and long-term health conditions. Within this they offer the Plymouth Veterans and Family Hub. Supporting Veterans, serving military personnel and their Families
The hub is run by veterans and their families specially designed to work with veterans and military families, working alongside a range of organisations in the city to shape better pathways and provides:
- Social activity
- Peer support and mentoring
Information, advice, and guidance for the following:
- Employment
- Housing Support
- Mental Wellbeing
- Unpaid Carers Support
- Welfare Benefits
- Legal Clinic ( run by Woollcombe Yonge)
The hub works, with local health service partners, to help veterans get the support that they are entitled to under the military covenant.
We are extremely proud to be a part of this and to support the armed forces community. Tam and Raegan shall be working closely with the veterans and family hub, attending events and offering a free legal clinic (by appointment only) on the first Thursday of each month starting from September.
